Ben Haring was born in 1945 at Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Different influences ranging from Jeroen Bosch and Pieter Brueghel shine through in his work. Ben has evolved from impressionism to realism and surrealism and is often seen as the father of poetic realism. The painting techniques he uses vary from oil painting, alkyd, egg-tempera, watercolor and acrylic painting both separately used and in combination. Moreover, he creates drawings in Chinese ink and various chalk techniques. Recurring subjects in his work are both human beings and animals portrayed in all kinds of fantastic situations.
